All system at the Ministry of state is dead, Atty Kruah Togba decry before the Senate.

The Deputy Minister of state for presidential Affairs for Administration has revealed that approximately 730 non- Civil servant names were discovered on the supplementary payroll at the institution following an robust assessment conducted as well as rightsizing is pending.

Appearing before members of the Senate committee on Executive for confirmation hearing on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, Att Cornelia  Kruah Togba frowned at the payroll she noted was privately managed by the Ministry of Finance and development planning in collaboration with the presidential Affairs under the former ruling Coalition for Democratic change (CDC) led government.

She told members of that august body that the institution has 385 employees recognized by the Civil servant Agency and the additional 730 unrecognized employees bringing the actual amount of employees to 1000, something which she said is too much for the institution.

She narrated that the management team of the Ministry of state is currently working out modalities with civil service Agency as well as the Governance Commission to carryout a robust assessment at the entity to ensure that staffers there effectively and efficiently work and resources of the state actually used.

At the same time, the Deputy Minister of state for Administration has however noted that as a result of the overcrowding of the Ministry payroll, the government of Liberia is spending a little over 2.7 million annually on salaries but vowed to tackle the challenges when confirmed by the Senate.

Deliberating further, The  Deputy Minister for Administration told members of the Senate committee on Executive that assets of the Ministry of state for presidential Affairs is yet to be accounted for.

" We believe when you address these issues at the Ministry that host the presidency is easy to ask others Ministries to mirror similar pattern, I can confirm to you that all of the systems at the Ministry were not in existence or not working at all, imagine no procurement arm, in fact there is a procurement unit that has not worked for the last six years and everyone there running their own show" Atty. Kruah Togba said. 

Meanwhile, the management team said they took over the Ministry with a single vehicle thereby team the situation as unbearable but promise to work with accountability and transparency in line with President Joseph Nyumah Boakai vision for the Country.
