“Corruption Destroys A Great Climate for Investment” says US Amb. to Liberia
"Rather than seeking ways to fight corruption for the betterment of Liberia, these individuals have consistently advanced corruption within this government to the detriment of Liberia and all Liberians."
“Rather than seeking ways to fight corruption for the betterment of Liberia, these individuals have consistently advanced corruption within this government to the detriment of Liberia and all Liberians.”
With the press conference with select media managers and owners on the 15th of August 2022 at the American Embassy near Monrovia, one major point of great importance was stressed by the Representative of the President of the United States, which is the damage Corruption causes to investment.
Ambassador Michael McCarthy said in his words, he prefers to be speaking to American investors who should be visiting his office near Monrovia to inform them about how great Liberia is to invest. How mature it is to walk into Liberia to invest and how secure it is to do business in Liberia, he should not be worried about the grave disease of corruption that is eating the very fabric of the society.
Amb. McCarthy feared speaking with American investors to invest in the country because they might come in contact with those three key officials of the CDC led government and might be corrupted by them; he blamed the Minister of States for President Affairs, Nathaniel McGill, Liberia’s Solicitor General, Sayma Syrenius Cephus, and the Managing Director of the National Port Authority (NPA), Bill Twehway because of their continued involvement in corruption in the country.
“In recent years, corruption has worsened to the point that it is now a dorminatan issue in our Bilateral relations that will otherwise show far more promise… like I said, I would rather be meeting representatives from American Cooperation and telling them what a great place Liberia is to invest in.” The US Ambassador to Liberia said.
He further that ” The reason while our tretary department has designated Minister of States Nathaniel McGill, National Port Authority Director, Bill Twehway and Solicitor General, Syrenius Cephus is because these individuals have been directly contributing to this problem.”
According to the United State Ambassador to Liberia, Minister McGill, Bill Twehway and Syrenius Cephus have consistently advanced corruption within the Weah Led government to the detriment of Liberians.
The ambassadors statement actually brought sanity to the discussion that indeed what the opposition have been sounding out thus far, is not damaging the image of the country as the ruling party of President Weah have made it look, but instead the very people in government have done everything to bring the Liberian government and people into disrepute.
