Court Fines Spoon Management, Individual Staff for attacking, raining insults at Judge and Court Officers

The Sixth Judicial Circuit, Civil Law Court Judge Kennedy Peabody has imposed a US$1,000 fine on the Management of Spoon FM/ TV Network and US$300 on each staff.
Judge Peabody ordered the closure of the Management of Spoon TV and FM Communication Network on Friday following a complaint filed by former Deputy Director General for information Coordination at the Liberia Institute of Statistics and Geo-information Services Wilmot Smith for the action of damages, slander, and libel.
The court accused the staff and management of Spoon Network of attacking and reigning insults on court officers and the judge during when officers had gone to enforce the court’s order.

Late Monday evening, Judge Peabody issued a writ of Summon on the Management of Spoon Network and some staff to show cause why they should not be held in contempt of court if any.
On Tuesday, July 18, 2023, the Management of Spoon, along with some of its staff appeared in court with their lawyer on the order of Judge Peabody.
The lawyer representing Spoon Network and the staff pleaded with the Judge for mercy.
But Judge Peabody went on to impose the fine on the management and each of the staff.
