Freeport FC, IE are among LFA’s worst-performing teams this season

As the new season is gearing for matchday six in the LFA Orange First Division, several big clubs could end up being relegated if their performance continues to remain on a low pace.

Some teams around the globe are noted for turning their bad starts into history-making while others are noted for bad history in football.

Football is one of the oldest known sports known to humankind with records of over 2,000 games being played in Liberia since the establishment of the Liberia Football Association in 1936.

In part one of this two-part series, Edwin Battaforyen delves into the worst-performing first-division clubs so far this season after match day five.

1). FREEPORT FC

The go green boys have failed to register a single win this season after playing five league matches.
They were heavily dragged 4-1 by Sandi FC in their open match at the Tusa Field.

The club has recorded a draw and four losses in the first division, their worst start in two years.

They are seated at the bottom of the league table with one point from five league games and have conceded nine goals, the third highest conceding club in the league this season so far. The club managed to score two goals the last goal scored by a team in the league so far.

Their next league game is against third-place side LISCR FC on Sunday, October 9, at the Tusa Field – the ground that always cost them sorrow and pain this season.

2). INVINCIBLE ELEVEN (IE)

Another big name with worst performances after spending heavily on players during the transfer window yet, the club stays struggled to beat underrated teams like Heaven Eleven in the first division league.

The Sun-Shine Yellow boys have failed to grab a win this season following their goalless draw with Heaven Eleven on Sunday at the ATS in Monrovia.

The team has recorded four draws and one loss, conceding six goals and scoring three in five league games this season.

The club is managed and run by Montserrado County Senator Saah Joseph but struggled on the field of play.

They will travel to Kakata over the weekend to take on Sandi FC in a match that many sports pundits will be expecting IE to end their winless run.
