Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City will be aiming to defend their UEFA Champions League title after beating Inter Milan in last year’s final.
But Pep Guardiola’s side could face competition from the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich – who have signed Harry Kane in a club-record deal – or Premier League rivals Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle.
The UEFA Champions League format remains the same this season, with 32 teams in the group stage, spread across eight groups of four.
From the 2024/25 season, the number of teams competing in the group stage will increase from 32 to 36.
