"I Fear No Preacher with Blood on His Hands,” Former Child Soldier Dares Ex-Rebel General After Threats

Monrovia, Liberia: Montserrado County District #10 Representative Yekeh Kolubah has sharply fired back at former warlord turned preacher Joshua Milton Blahyi, describing him as a “repentant killer chasing political favors” following a heated standoff Thursday in Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County.

The tension erupted ahead of the reburial ceremony of former President Samuel K. Doe, where Kolubah had led a vibrant motorbike parade through the streets of Zwedru.

His arrival was seen as a bold political statement, especially after he accused President Joseph Boakai of exploiting the ceremony for early 2029 campaign purposes.

Blahyi, also known by his notorious wartime alias “General Butt Naked,” condemned Kolubah’s presence, calling it disruptive and provocative. But Yekeh dismissed the preacher’s statement as hypocritical and self-serving.

“Who is Blahyi to talk about peace and order? A man who once danced in blood can’t suddenly be the voice of morality. I won’t be intimidated by a killer trying to bleach his past with church cloth,” Yekeh declared.

“This is a public space. I came lawfully. I’m a sitting lawmaker. And I refuse to be chased out of my own country by someone who should be answering to a war crimes court, not holding press conferences.”

The montserrado county Lawmaker accused Blahyi of trying to win favor with the Boakai regime:

“He’s desperate for a position. That’s what this is all about. Not the ceremony. Not peace. Just raw ambition dressed in Bible quotes.”

The former warlord had vowed to take action against Yekeh Kolubah.

Addressing local media earlier in Grand Gedeh County 27th June 2025, Blahyi warned that if the Armed Forces of Liberia failed to intervene, he and his supporters would forcibly remove the lawmaker from Zwedru.

He insisted Kolubah’s parade was a political distraction to a solemn national event:

“If the army can’t act, we will. He shouldn’t be anywhere near the President’s movements. And if he crosses that line, I’ll join the parade myself just to confront him,” Blahyi threatened.

Blahyi, who has attempted to reinvent himself as a preacher following Liberia’s civil war, accused Kolubah of trying to sow political chaos.
