LFA Women’s Upper League Gets Underway, As Determine Girls Drag LEAD Academy In League Opener

The Liberia Football Association Women’s Upper Division League 2022/23 football season started with a standard and entertaining game between defending champions Determine Girls and newly promoted side Lead Monrovia Academy at the famous open-air ATS on Saturday evening.
Determine Girls produced three goals in the first half but struggled with completing the constructive passes on numerous occasions across both halves.
Marthaline Moore opened the scoring in the early minutes before Katie Sayee and Sylvia Pyne doubled Determine Girl’s lead before the first-half break.
The introduction of Bountou Sylla in the second half brought huge pressure on the Lead Academy.
Sylla, Mabinty Kamara, and Marthaline More were all on the scoring sheet in the second half of the match but a quick two goals from the visitors ended the match 6-2 in favor of the defending champions.
Bassa Girls (2-0) Earth Angels
It was a historical start for newcomers Bassa Girls at the Dorris Williams sports stadium in Buchanan City.
A goal each from Janies Dunbar and Estella Sedo was enough to dump one of Liberia’s traditional female clubs Earth Angels.
