LNP Forward Six to Court in Connection to District 10 Violence- Latest Liberian News

The Liberia National Police have forwarded to court six people in connection to the Saturday riot in district #10 Montserrasdo county.
On Saturday the Liberia Nationa Police was compelled to use tear gas to disperse members of the CDC Youth League after its chairman, Emmanuel Johnson visited one of the voter’s registration centers to register in District 10.
The Youth League Marched into the district singing registration-awareness slogans from the party headquarters to Old road.
Following orders by the Liberian National Police to dissolve the group to avoid another possible violence between the group and Rep. Kolubah, the Youth League demanded that the march was intended to have their chairman and other citizens register in the district currently headed by Rep. Yekeh Kolubah.
The situation caused terror among citizens thus closing businesses among others in the district.
Another incident occurred on Friday where some men believe to be supporters of Rep. Kolubah were arrested by the Liberia National Police (LNP) and taken to Zone three Police Depot in Congo Town for allegedly attacking the Chief Accountant and Acting Controller at National Housing Authority (NHA), Mr. Gola Sorsor, on his way home from work on the Old Road and others. It is alleged that they were armed with machetes and cutlasses and wearing jackets with Yekeh Kolubah militant inscriptions. Cars were destroyed.
However, those forwarded to court following the police investigation are Heyluck Mark, Jeremiah Koatea, Elijah Yarkpawolo, Varney Kamara, Ayouba Swaray, Junior Peweeand, and others to be identified. They were arrested on March 24, in the Old Road Community.
The police charge sheet revealed that the defendants assembled in the district where they were wearing green reflected jackets and green berets with cutlasses in their hands, blocked the main road from the direction of the invincible park, and began to throw stones.
The police further that their actions resulted in victims Gola Sorsor, and Jusu Varney’s vehicles being damaged, thereafter the police support unit headed by DCP Godfrey Kollie arrived on the scene to claim.
It added that in the presence of the police support unit the defendants allegedly attack a lady identified as Love Kellah and several others, a resident of VP road thereafter making away with her cash in the tone of LD$10 Thousand Liberian dollars.
The defendants were charged for the commission of the crimes of aggravated assault, riot, failure to disperse, disorderly conduct, theft of property, and obstructing highways and public passages which are in violations of chapters 14, 15, and 17 sections 14.26, 1551,17.1,17.3 and 17.7 of the panel law of Liberia.
