Man, 24, Allegedly Kills 17-year Baby Mother, Remains At-large

SCHIEFELIN, Margibi County – Police have launched a manhunt for a 24-year-old man, Peter Jacobs for allegedly murdering the mother of his four-month old baby, 17-year old God-Gift Peewee in Schiefelin Township, Lower Margibi County.

The incident occurred recently when the deceased and Jacobs, popular known as Kaka were involved in a brawl, that soon turned violent.

The deceased’s father, Frederick Togba, speaking to K-news said, he learned that his daughter was a victim of constant abuse meted on her by her boyfriend. Togba termed the death of his daughter as a disaster and an irreparable loss to the family.

The body of the deceased, he said, is currently deposited at the 14 Military Hospital morgue, while the alleged perpetrator is on the run. The baby is currently with the maternal grandmother, he said.

His daughter’s body will be buried only when the perpetrator is caught and placed under investigation, he said.

“We have been told that my daughter was killed by her boyfriend. So, if they find another aspect or instrument that he used to murder her than is what we the family want to know by this time. We have also informed Commissioner Anthony Brown that to carry on the burial, the man should be in police hand and undergoing investigation first than we will listen,” he said.

“But the more he is on the run, the more the body will be in the funeral home. In fact, the people here told me that my daughter and her boyfriend have been in the constant habit of always fighting but I was never in the know until today. My daughter’s death is painful. We need the intervention of the joint security in bringing the alleged perpetrator to book so Justice can be served.”

Schiefelin Township Commissioner, Anthony Brown condemned the act and called on young people to always use dialogue to settle their disputes.

Commissioner Brown said to foster reconciliation between the both families; the local leadership of the Township is currently working with the deceased family as well as the alleged perpetrator’s family in resolving the ongoing crisis.

According to him, his decision to intervene was due to the growing wave of tension between both famines since the incident took place in the area.

He said while the police search for the alleged perpetrators who is at large, the families of both parties should be calm and cooperate with the police to dispense justice.

He called neighbors of both families and residents to stop fueling the conflict that could lead to violence, rather, they should promote peace.

An eyewitness, asked not to be named, told reporters that during the fight she, heard the deceased crying, something that prompted her to rush on the scene, but when she entered the room, she met lying unconscious.

She then called and when they took to the 14 Military Hospital, she was pronounced dead.
