Mbassey Darboe Inspires Determined Girls’ Win over Shaita Angels to Clinch LFA Super Cup
Determine Girls FC on Sunday, September 3, clinched their third consecutive LFA Super Cup victories with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Shaita Angels FC, who are now without a victory in three matches against Determined Girls FC.
The match started frantically, as Joy Igbazenda fired wide with a close-range shot on the rebound before Louise Brown had her effort blocked down the other end.
Teenage starlet Nelresa Teah then weaved her way into the area and teed up a chance for Miatta Morris, who missed the target.
Cheered on by a partisan crowd in Monrovia, Shaita Angels caused their more illustrious opponents problems as Erica Parson tested goalkeeper Jackie Touah with a shot which took a hefty deflection off the line and went out for a corner kick.
Jackie Touah was called into action again as the Determined Girls’ defense was sliced open by Malusu Blama’s cut-back, but the resulting strike from teenage Malsu was parried to safety by the goalkeeper Touah.
Mabinty Camara puts Determined Girls ahead in the early minutes of the game with a beautiful finish inside the eighteen-yard area.
Gambian international Mbassey Daeboe doubled the lead for Determined Girls just before the first-half break.
A cancellation goal came for Shaita Angels in the Fifty-one minute when Cynthia Weah fired in a left-footed strike to pull one back for the visitors.
The Victory was Determined Girl’s third straight Super Cup Victory in a row.
They won it in 2021 against Earth Angels at the Dorris William Sports Stadium in Buchanan Grand Bassa.

Shaita Angels have never beaten Determined Girls in a football match.
Determined Girls and Shaita Angels FC have met on three separate occasions, with Determined Girls walking winning all.
Their first physical meeting came during the second leg battle in the Women’s Upper League 2021/2022 Season at the SKD Practice Pitch.
Determined Girls chopped the Angels 16-1 after Shaita Failed to turn out for the first leg due to some technical reason.
Their second meeting was in the Orange Cup final at the ATS in May of this year, Determine Girls recorded a dramatic and entertaining 2-1 victory over Miss Benita Urey and her Girls.
The latest came on Sunday afternoon at the open-air ATS in Monrovia where Determined Girls recorded another 2-1 victory in the LFA Super Cup to record their three straight wins over Shaita Angels Football Club.
The two teams will meet on two different occasions this season in the Women’s Upper League, the first leg will take place on December 2, 2023, at the ATS in Monrovia.
In the return leg on January 27, 2024, Shaita Angels will welcome Determined Girls FC at the George Weah Technical Center in Careysburg on Match Day 12 of the Women’s Upper League.
