NEC Extends Voter Registration Two Hours Ahead for Saturday and Sunday in First Six Counties

MONROVIA — The National Elections Commission (NEC) has extended the biometric voter registration hours in the first six counties.
Instead of the 8 AM starting time and 5 PM ending time, the last two days, Saturday and Sunday, the 8th and 9th of April will now end at 7 PM in Bomi, Gbarpolu, Grand Bassa, Grand Cape Mount, Margibi, and Montserrado Counties.
According to NEC, the move is meant to allow Liberians who are 18 years and above and already in the queue at 5 PM to continue their registration up to 7 PM on both Saturday and Sunday. The commission also confirmed that allowances will be provided to all Temporary Field Staff at the Registration Centers for the extra hours worked on the two days.
“The approval of the additional hours to the Biometric Voter Registration time targets Liberian 18 years and above who would already be in the queue at 5 PM, to be allowed to continue their registration up to 7 PM on Saturday 8th April and Sunday 9th April 2023,” NEC said in a release on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the commission is calling on all eligible voters to take advantage of the extension and register to vote in the upcoming elections.
