President Weah Welcomes “One China policy”, Reaffirms Gov’t Commitment

President George Weah has reaffirmed Liberia’s commitment to the “One China Policy, making it one of the few countries in the world to legislate the Policy.
The President reiterated the nation’s commitment when the Chinese Ambassador to Liberia, Ren Yisheng paid a courtesy visit to him at the Executive Mansion on Tuesday, February 14, 2023.
President Weah assured the Ambassador of continued cooperation between the two countries with mutual benefit and for the realization of a true “Win Win” situation.
Also Speaking, the Chinese Ambassador H.E. Ren Yisheng thanked the Liberian Leader and Government for the cooperation accorded him during his tour of duty in the country, and also commended the President for upholding and exhibiting the tenants of democracy and the true value of leadership in the Country.
Ren Yisheng at the same time pledged China’s continuous cooperation in the areas of agriculture, infrastructure development, and capacity building to Liberia.
The Chinese Ambassador was accompanied to the meeting by Liberia’s Foreign Minister, Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah. The Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, G. Wesseh Blamoh, and Cllr. Archibald Bernard.
The one-China principle has an unambiguous meaning, i.e. there is but one China in the world, Taiwan is an inalienable part of China, and the Government of the People’s Republic of China is the sole legal government representing the whole of China.
