The pronouncement was made by Presidential Press Secretary Kula Fofana during the executive Mansion Regular press Briefing Friday March 13, 2026.

The appointment brings one of Liberia’s most well-known musicians into a role expected to help promote and support the country’s entertainment industry.

Since the 2023 General Elections, Kobazzie has often been seen at government programs and national events, where he performs and also helps give other Liberian artists a platform.

At the official reopening of the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL), Kobazzie invited young Liberian artists Flash and 1030 to perform on stage in front of President Boakai and other officials.

Many observers say the move showed his willingness to support upcoming talents in the country.

Kobazzie, whose full name is Korte Dorbor Bazzie, was born on November 29, 1989, in Voinjama, Lofa County. He later moved to Monrovia where he developed a strong interest in music.

He graduated from Cuttington University with a degree in Accounting and Business Management, but later decided to focus on music.

Known by many fans as “The Lorma Boy,” Kobazzie has grown to become one of Liberia’s most recognized Afropop artists.

Music Career

Kobazzie began gaining attention in Liberia’s music scene in the mid-2010s when his songs started receiving heavy airplay on radio stations and social media.

His music combines Afropop, dancehall, and Liberian street style, which has helped him build a strong following, especially among young people.

With this new appointment, Kobazzie is expected to help promote Liberian music, support young artists, and contribute to the growth of the country’s entertainment sector.

Tyla was once again recognized on the international stage, at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday, February 1, 2026, this time, for her hit, "Push 2 Start", over the Davido's sensational vibe "With You" featuring Omah Lay.

Nigerians have taken to the social media to strongly react to the Grammy Awards after their global star Davido flopped for the second time, alleging that this year's African Music Performance award was handed to the South African Pop and R&B Singer was not merit-based.

Tyla's "Push 2 Start" was nominated along with other hit songs including Burna Boy's "Love"; Davido's "With You";

Eddy Kenzo's "Hope & Love" and Ayra Starr's featuring Wizkid - "Gimme Dat".

Sharing his thoughts on social media, Popular Nigerian influencer VerDarkBlackMan penned via his official Instagram " Tyla again? Shout out to Davido, Burna Boy, Ayra Star and Wizkid. I really wanted Davido to win so as to create balance."

Both David and Tyla's hits have generated millions of streams across multiple social media platforms. As controversy grows, many believe Davido's "With You" resonated better than Tyla's"Push 2 Start", a view that remains largely debated after the just-ended Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, the United States.

Tyla Laura Seethal, 24, first swept the African Music Performance Award over Davido in 2024 with her single "Water". Davido, 33, is yet to pick a prize in the category, despite being nominated twice for the award, with "Unavailable" in 2024.

‎The Grammy Awards are the first of the Big Three networks' major music awards held annually, and are considered one of the four major annual American entertainment awards with the Academy Awards (for films), the Emmy Awards (for television), and the Tony Awards (for theater).

‎I have only seen uncalled for performances around Paynesville City, in Liberia. I have actually walked out of a concert before, because artists were intoxicated. Other than that, I have never seen an artiste leaves the stage before a large crowd because of poor sound system.

‎Tiwatope Savage, Two-time BET nominee, popularly called Tiwa Savage, a globally recognized Nigerian singer, songwriter, and performer had a heated melt down with  "Taste the Culture Fest" organizers in Ghana over the sound quality of the music system.

The popular Nigerian female star furiously left the stage after complaining about the sound output. This led many crowd in shock, something that seems to be unusual for artistes.

‎The 2025 "Taste The Culture Fest", officially called “Taste The Culture is a Black Star Experience”, a major cultural festival held in Accra, Ghana, as part of the GH season events in December.

‎The queen of afrobeats who is widely admired for her stage presence streamed at her crew, blaming them for not considering her instinct initially when she thought it would end up the way it did. I guess this is not Tiwa's first experience with the "Taste the Culture Fest, Ghana".

‎Hosted at the Independence Square (Black Star Square) in Accra, Ghana, the festival featured performances by several high-profile artists, including Black Sheriff, Amaarae and other Ghanian-based superstars.

‎When ever you see a live performance, there is always a strong chance that something might go wrong. 

‎

‎Sure, we saw Kpanto recently cut his performance short at Christoph The Change Independence Day Concert after being told what song to perform. It was an event that hosted over 30,000 spectators including the presence of the House Speaker, Richard Nagba Koon.

‎After addressing her frustration, Tiwa who was scheduled to perform along with Omah Lay, Davido and others was only seen escorted by security to her car.

‎In most cases, these issues can be addressed and fixed without much hassle as it eventually did, the crowd boosted her confidence by streaming "Savage", "Savage" and was later seen in a Twitter post performing songs like Kele Kele Love, Eminado, All Over and her recent classic hit "Somebody Son".

‎But before her performance, Tiwa Savage who broke barriers for many female African artistes in a male dominated industry expressed something that was so encouraging to her fans: "I love and I Know you are disappointed and that's why I can't wait to perform, I know it is late but I want to make sure they get the sound right because you guys deserve the best".

‎While thrilling the audience with his popular hit “Ukwu,” the veteran singer, who first trended widely in the mid‑2000s, invited a plus‑sized female fan on stage, only to lose his balance and fell while trying to lift the big nyansh lady.

‎The incident caught on video and widely shared across platforms, saw Timaya quickly recover and continue his set to cheers from the crowd, underscoring both his professionalism and the unpredictable nature of live shows.

‎Timaya is 42 years old and has over two decades of experience in the music industry. Social media users used the moment to jokingly remark on the toll of age on even seasoned performers, a reminder that even icons like Timaya can find themselves in humorous situations while connecting with fans.

‎Just like many performers before him, the "Dem Mama" hit maker fell on stage is not an uncommon occurrence in the world of live music.

‎In 2014, Nicki Minaj experienced a similar moment when she tripped over stage equipment during a high energy performance, quickly regaining her composure to continue the show.

Renowned Liberian Sports Journalist, Theophilus Kla Wesley, who attended the concert shared his extra feelings at the concert with a slang: "Tonight pah, we put football one side to come vibe with OBO. Musical AFCON".

Journalist Wesley took to his official Facebook handle to describe the insane night as a moment where football was briefly set aside for music and celebration to entertain the cross-section of Africans attending the tournament 

The concert was part of the activities leading to the official kickoff of the AFCON 2025 on Sunday, December 21, 2025 in Morocco. The Nigerian Superstar, Davido got the crowd going wild his 2025 hit "With You" featuring Omah Lay. His staged movement even brought extra vibes to the audience.

The pre-tournament concert also featured performances by other international artists including Hip-hop star French Montana, alongside Moroccan singer Douaa Lahyaoui, French-Moroccan hitmaker Lartiste among others.

The AFCON 2025 gets underway this Sunday, December 21, with hosts Morocco taking on Comoros in Group A. The showdown will take place at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in the Capital, Rabat.

‎According to report, Miss Wilson took part in a panel discussion during the event alongside contestants from Japan, China, Thailand, and other countries, where she addressed issues of inclusion and equal representation.

‎In a separate recording from the same period, Miss Wilson was also criticized for incorrectly stating that Liberia gained independence in 1947 in Nairobi, Kenya.

‎The controversy escalated on March 31, 2025, after a video surfaced showing Wilson publicly assaulting Jumel Cassell, a student of Stella Maris Polytechnic University, who had criticized her anthem performance from the Miss Global Competition held in Thailand. The incident drew widespread public attention and social media debate.

‎

‎Subsequently, the Monrovia City Court issued a writ of arrest against Wilson on charges of simple assault, menacing, and disorderly conduct. Despite legal and public challenges, Wilson remained active in international pageantry and later appeared at the Miss Cosmo 2025 Grand Finale, an event described by organizers as a global celebration of beauty, culture, and creativity.

Kobazzie who was duly arranged to perform before the Liberian President, Joseph Boakia, and other top government officials at the event quickly stepped aside and handed the microphone to rising Afro-Pop star, Prince Oluwale William, known as Will Flash to prove his talent before the high-level dedication.

‎Kobazzie explained: "‎‎ I have performed before the president many times, It is time the young artists get that chance.”

The ‎trending gesture has maded rounds on the social media. Kobazzie further stated that his move was rooted in growth, continuity, and responsibility.

He emphasized that true influence is measured not by how long one occupies the spotlight, but by the willingness to create space for others to rise.

The event brought excitement about rising artists performance on a high stage. Will Flash, the reigning MLMA Afro-Pop Artist of the Year, impressed attendees with his flow and magic voice.

Will Flash, a signee of SOG Records, carried the moment confidently, performing “Tell Me,” featuring Stunn, before President Boakai, an exposure that remains rare for emerging Liberian artists without senior endorsement.

Kobazzie opens up on giving the stage to Will Flash: “He is a Liberian, and he deserves the opportunity. Will Flash was going to perform, but not in front of the president. Since I had that space, I gave it to him so the president could see his talent.”

Kobazzie, also called the "Lorma Boy" gained his prominence with the Bilikon Entertainment back in 2019. His catalogue includes major hits such as “Bounce” and “Nobody,” and his 2019 Bounce Remix collaboration with Nigerian superstar Davido marked a rare cross-border breakthrough for a Liberian act.

He is also recognized as one of the first Liberian artists to successfully penetrate the Ghanaian and wider West African market, securing consistent airplay and performances beyond Liberia.

Kobazzie expressed outrage that the school would permit LIB Attention to entertain students despite the comedian’s public reputation and habitual dressing style, which often includes wearing red pants that many consider inappropriate for children’s settings.

He said the decision reflects poor judgment and a failure on the part of the school’s administration to protect adolescents from unsuitable influences.

According to Kobazzie, the comedian’s appearance on the school campus demonstrated a serious lapse in leadership and supervision, stressing that no educational institution should invite a figure whose public image contradicts basic moral and cultural standards.

Kobazzie emphasized the importance of safeguarding children’s environment, noting that entertainers must consider the impact of their behavior, dress code, and message when interacting with minors.

“You can choose to be whatever you want in life, but when it comes to our children, we must protect them at all costs,” he stated, calling the entire act shameful and dangerous.

He directly criticized the comedian, LIB Attention, stating that the comedian’s style and content are meant for adult audiences and should never be placed before children who are still developing emotionally and mentally.

Kobazzie accused the comedian of prioritizing attention-seeking over responsibility, while at the same time blaming the school administration for the poor judgment.

The musician is not alone in the criticisms; parents in Brewerville shared similar concerns, accusing the House of Prayers Institute of neglecting its duty to maintain a proper learning environment.

Many said the school compromised its values by allowing someone with an “adult-centered image” to perform for innocent students.

Child protection advocates have since joined the growing condemnation, warning that schools must establish strict vetting procedures before bringing external figures onto their campuses, arguing that the incident highlights a broader issue of institutions failing to prioritize students’ psychological and moral safety.

Kobazzie, however, called on the Ministry of Education to intervene immediately.

“The Ministry of Education should take action, fine this school, and ensure that something like this never happens again,” he declared, insisting that accountability is the only way to prevent similar lapses in the future.
