Dr. Jackson passed away Saturday morning at the John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Monrovia, where he had been admitted on Thursday evening.

Born in Bong County, Dr. Jackson built a career spanning public administration, finance, governance and national service. He graduated from the University of Liberia in 1978 before traveling to the United States, where he earned an MBA in Finance from Oklahoma City University in 1984. He later earned a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration from Walden University in 2022. (Everand)

Before entering senior government service, Dr. Jackson worked as a Senior Financial Analyst at the Liberia Electricity Corporation and later served as Deputy Comptroller for Debt Management at the Ministry of Finance. (Everand)

He later returned to Liberia and served as a member of the National Transitional Legislative Assembly, where he represented Liberians during the country’s post-war transition. In a statement issued on Wednesday, the county administration described the late Garmah as a highly respected traditional leader whose lifelong service was dedicated to preserving Grand Bassa's cultural heritage and promoting peace, unity, and reconciliation within the county.

"The late Supreme Grand Zoe Garmah was a respected traditional leader whose contributions to the preservation of the county's cultural heritage and the promotion of peace and unity will be remembered by the people of Grand Bassa and Liberia at large," the County Administration stated.

The administration said his passing marks a significant loss not only for the traditional community but also for the people of Grand Bassa and Liberia, noting that his leadership and commitment to customary values earned him widespread respect.

The County Administration extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved family, the traditional community, and all those mourning the loss, praying that God grants them strength and comfort during this difficult time. Funeral arrangements, according to the administration, will be announced by the family in due course.

According to eyewitnesses, nearby residents quickly responded and managed to rescue the casket from the burning car before the flames could consume it.

The vehicle was reportedly reduced to ashes, while no injuries or deaths were reported.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, with authorities expected to investigate the incident and determine what led to the blaze.

His death has left students in shock, especially those who attended the event and saw him earlier in the evening. Friends described him as being in good spirits before the tragic accident.

The incident has cast a dark mood over the University of Liberia, particularly the Amos C. Sawyer College of Social Sciences and Humanities, where many students are mourning his sudden death.

Authorities have not yet released full details surrounding the accident. However, students are calling for a thorough investigation to identify the driver and ensure justice for the late Nelson Kpadeh.

Meanwhile, tributes continue to pour in as the university community mourns the loss of a young life cut short.

The incident happened Saturday during a routine farm-burning exercise. Pastor Johnson was helping with the seasonal clearing when the fire spread faster than expected and trapped him.

A 15-man jury investigated the scene and ruled out foul play. Jurors said the pastor tried to escape but the flames closed in before he could reach safety.

Details surrounding his passing are still emerging. Solomon George was one of Liberia’s most outspoken lawmakers. He served as Representative of Montserrado County District #7 for multiple terms, first gaining national attention for his fiery, unfiltered style of politics.

He was a staunch member of the Congress for Democratic Change, later the Coalition for Democratic Change, and was known for fiercely defending party positions both on the House floor and in public debates.

During his years at the House of Representatives of Liberia, he served on several committees, including security and public order matters. His contributions were often controversial, but he remained a popular figure within his district for his accessibility and blunt honesty.

According to preliminary information from local authorities, the prime suspect in the case is Ansu, identified as Johnson’s boyfriend and a Sierra Leonean national who works on a local palm farm in the area.

Police sources disclosed that the incident allegedly stemmed from a domestic dispute. The suspect reportedly accused the victim of being romantically involved with another man. During the confrontation, he allegedly prevented Johnson from attending a watch-night church service and later strangled her, leading to her death.

The incident has shocked residents of Bonokai Town and surrounding communities, many of whom described the victim as peaceful and well-known in the area.

Following the incident, security forces moved swiftly and arrested the suspect, who is currently being held in police custody in Bopolu City. Authorities say a full investigation is underway, and the suspect is expected to be formally charged and forwarded to court in line with Liberian law.

The meeting took place on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, and focused on the death of Mr. Sam Poar Juday, a 29-year-old Liberian citizen who was studying at Kalinga University in Chhattisgarh State, India. Mr. Juday’s death was reported to have occurred on December 22, 2025.

During the meeting, the Ministry expressed serious concern and called on the Government of India to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into the incident. The Ministry also requested that an autopsy be carried out to establish the exact cause of death and to provide clarity to the family and the Liberian public.

Ambassador Verma conveyed condolences on behalf of the Government of India and assured the Ministry that Indian authorities, including the university administration and local police, are actively investigating the matter. He further pledged that the Indian Embassy would provide regular updates as the investigation progresses.

The summoning of the Indian Ambassador follows reports that Mr. Juday died under tragic and alleged violent circumstances, sparking public outrage and calls for justice from Liberians at home and in the diaspora. News of his death became public on December 23, 2025.

According to accounts from several Liberian students studying in India, Mr. Juday was allegedly beaten and pushed from a high-rise building after an altercation involving a group of South Sudanese students. However, Indian authorities have not yet issued an official statement confirming these claims.

The reported incident has sent shockwaves through Liberia’s academic and student communities, with growing demands for a swift, impartial, and transparent investigation to establish the facts surrounding Mr. Juday’s death.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it remains in close contact with the family of the deceased and is providing support during this difficult period. The Government of Liberia reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of Liberians studying and working abroad and pledged to keep the public informed as more details emerge.

According to sources, Dr. Bailey unexpectedly collapsed while performing official duties at UMU. He was immediately rushed to a nearby medical facility for emergency treatment, but despite the efforts of health workers, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

According to eyewitnesses, from the scene, the police pickup was traveling ahead to clear the roadway, maintaining a significant distance in front of the main escort vehicle. While descending a hill and approaching a curve, the pickup encountered a jeep that had already stopped to give way.

However, a motorcycle carrying one passenger, Garie Bags with two tin of oil approached from behind the stopped jeep. The rider reportedly attempted to overtake the jeep in the curve, at which point he collided head-on with the police pickup. The impact left two individual allegedly dead on the spot.one male which is the motorcyclist and a female, the passenger. 

According to eyewitnesses as being publicly speculated, it was not the President’s immediate escort vehicle that was involved in the accident, but rather the advance police pickup assigned to clear traffic ahead of the convoy.

The Liberia National Police has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.
