Ruling Party’s Governing Council Member Crosses Over to ANC

Former Liberia foreign Minister and an executive of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change Governing Council Dr. Togbah McIntosh has announced his resignation from the party, and in effect, withdrawing all support towards the party’s reelection comes 2023.

Addressing a press conference, Dr. McIntosh pledged his support to the presidential bid of opposition leader Alexander B. Cummings of the Alternative National Congress (ANC).

Dr. McIntosh said his decision is strongly rooted in the supreme interest of the State that will create a lunching path for a truly prosperous and united Liberia that brings hope to everyone in the Country.

”It was a deliberate decision that is guided by series of consultations and reflection during my years participating in politics. I have over the years been a very active and results oriented person in the Liberian politics,” he said.

“My analysis and consultations have ended and I therefore use this medium to pledge my support to the candidacy of Mr. Alexander B. Cummings of the Alternative National Congress (ANC) in the upcoming 2023 general and presidential elections.”

According to him, Mr. Cummings has the pedigree to deliver the country if elected comes 2023 as president of Liberia.

Dr. McIntosh is a veteran Liberian politician and diplomats. In his over 30 years of experience, he has served Liberia in several capacities including Minister of Foreign Affairs. As an official of the Liberian People Democratic Party (LPDP), Dr. McIntosh played a pivotal role in the formulation of the tripartite agreement that gave birth to the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC).

He said his thirty-two years stay in the political landscape of Liberia was only intended seek for what is right, fair and what advances the common good of the citizens of the Country..
”It was my voice that announced the birth of the Coalition to the Nation and the World as a whole. I was actively involved in the earlier decision making session in the CDC governing council which has become dormant in the last two and half years.”

He then called for a rewrite of a new narrative to ensure the survival and development of Liberia; saying “We must redefine the political structures and economic direction of the Nation”.
He narrated that the country and citizens need a good break from the past in order to create a new Republic of Liberia; adding, it is a must and a precondition for Liberia’s transformation if the people are to be lifted from abject poverty.

He said if the Country is to graduate from its current state, there is a need for Liberians to elect competent, resourceful, tested in administration and management and one that creates new opportunities for the most underserve in the country. For this to happen, such a Nation need a competent and honest leadership team with a clear visionary path.

He further asserted that the reconstruction mission also requires the presence of appropriate, functioning, governing structures and systems that are capable to formulate and implement smart policies.

Meanwhile, Dr. McIntosh crossover to the ANC has been greeted as a big boost to Mr. Cummings in his presidential bid, beginning with the re-organizing the shattered Collaborating Political Parties following the painful exist of the Unity Party (UP) and the All Liberia Party (ALP).
