U.S. Abbott Fund to Develop Cooperation with Tanzania Muhimbili National Hospital

The Abbott Fund, a U.S.-based organization, has promised to continue cooperating with Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) in various categories including capacity building to medical equipment experts, and other departments to be notified later.

The statement was made on Thursday,14 July 2023 by the President of Abbott Fund Ms Melissa Brotz who is on a working tour in the country, visiting the project they fund.

Abbott Fund facilitated MNH for the construction of an outpatient department (OPD) which serves 800 – 1,000 patients per day, rehabilitation of a major laboratory and some of its equipment, reconstruction of the Emergency Medical Department (EMD) which sees 250 – 300 patients a day, sponsoring of health experts, especially those at EMD, research, good service delivery, and Information and Technology systems.

Prof. Mohamed Janabi, CEO of MNH, recommended the Abbott Fund for its good cooperation and willingness to contribute to the hospital.

“You have done a great job, the most thing in record is how the Abbott Fund has empowered our health workers with expertise, a tool to continue working effectively, because knowlege is power, and can’t be on damage the ways equipments can”, said Prof Janabi.
