UN Women To Solidify Relationship with First Lady in Addressing Issues Affecting Women and Girls
Liberia’s First Lady, Clar Marie Weah has honored an audience from the new United Nation (UN) Women Liberia Country Director, Madam Comfort Lamptey.
According to a release from the office of the first lady, Madam Comfort Lamptey’s visit is aimed at solidifying the existing partnership between the First Lady’s initiatives and UN Women to address issues affecting women and girls across the country.
At a brief meeting, First Lady Clar Weah applauded Madam Lamptey on her new assignment to Liberia while expressing willingness to work with her at various levels in championing the cause of women and girls.
Madam Weah named others of concentration as the SHE’S YOU Movement, Menstrual and Personal Hygiene Initiatives, and the Army Wives Vocational Training Project as some of the initiatives undertaken by her office.
She noted that her various interventions are focused on transforming the lives of underprivileged Liberians including women and girls languishing in abject poverty.
In response, Madam Lamptey appreciated Mrs. Weah for the great initiatives being undertaken by her office aimed at empowering women and girls as well as the less fortunate.
The new UN Women Boss, however, assured the First Lady of her commitment to foster collaborations and advocacy
She also promised to lend her voice to promoting advocacy and initiatives being championed by UN Women.
