Unforgettable Experience for Liberia National Handball Federation

A disappointing start for Liberia Under-18 and Under- 20 teams in the ongoing Handball African Cup of Nations in Abidjan as both teams tasted defeat in their respective opening matches.

Early in game one of the Under -20 category, Liberia suffered a massive setback in the opening match against host Ivory Coast with five minutes of play in kick-off time Star player and team captain Senegalese referee Faye Abdoulaye gave Joshua T. Lamin a straight red card.

Ivorian Star player Ouatra kolo opened the scoring in one minute. It doubled Ivory Coast’s lead in two minutes before Johnson Gbeadeh pulled the trigger for the visitor in five minutes.

Following the red card, Liberia-20 lost control of the game and was outplayed by host Ivory Coast throughout the entire sixty minutes.

Fifteen goals and ten assists from Ivory Coast Star player Ouatra kolo resulted in Liberia’s Under- 20 heavy and unforgettable defeat.
Player Ouatra kolo was named star player of the match following his brilliant performance.

Meanwhile the Under-18 bow down to the super eagles of Nigeria in their opening match in the Under-18 category.
Nigeria’s under-18 side walked away with seventy-nine goals while Liberia’s under-18 managed to score fifteen.

In game two Liberia Under-18 suffered another defeat following their 41-21 loss to Benin and the Under-20 was also dredged by Benin under-20 at the Abidjan Thirty thousand sports commission one and two
