Unity Party Newly Elected Chairman’s House, Vehicle Burned to Ashes  

Fire outbreak has destroyed to aches the home of Unity Party newly elected Chairman Rev. J Luther Tarpeh . The incident is said to have occurred at 1: 00 AM, early Friday morning.

The cause of the fire has not been established.

The incident is occurring just weeks after Rev. J Luther Tarpeh was elected chairman of the opposition Unity party.

According to Rev. Tarpeh, only one person was among the seven occupants of the burned building, and he has been taken the ELWA Hospital in Paynesville.

Meanwhile, the Secretary General of the Unity Party, Amos Teweh has accused the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change-Government of using secret agents to burn the home of the Party’s Chairman.

According to him, it was the use of petrol-bomb that quickly developed into a fire disaster.

The newly elected Secretary General said the act of violence has been meted against the opposition community through the government-paid agents across the country; citing Lofa and Montserrado Counties as an epicenter of their violence.

“This is an attack on the opposition because the government has been very much uneasy about our election and they have been finding ways to intimidate the Unity Party and they plan to silence us,” he said.

Recently, there was another fire outbreak near President George Weah’s residence in Rehab, Cooper Farm community which led to the death of three children. An adult was injured.

Speaking with K-news, Rev. Tarpeh said they exerted efforts to get the fire service- not far from the president’s house but they were asked to buy fuel.

The National Fire Service has complained that it is faced with a lot of logistical challenges.
