Embattled Liberty Party Sen. Lawrance Joins ‘Rescue Mission’, Endorses Boakia-Koung Ticket

Grand Bassa County Senator, Nyonblee Karngar-Lawrance has endorsed the Boakai-Koung ticket ahead of the October 10 general elections. Her endorsement of the two candidates comes weeks after she was not featured as Vice running mate to former Vice President Joseph Boakai.

Addressing a group of citizens in Buchanan, Sen. Karngar-Lawrance said: “To simply disengage from this process on account of not being named as running mate, would speak less of our honesty and commitment to contributing to the change that Liberia so deserves and finds in the person of Ambassador Boakai.”

According to the Grand Bassa County Senator, following the selection of Sen. Koung as running mate to Amb. Boakai, she was engaged by several political parties to serve as running mate to them including the Alternative National Congress (ANC) of Alexander B. Cummings, and Cllr. Tiawon Gongloe of the Liberian People’s Party (LPP), but said the Boakai-Kung ticket is in the interest of the Liberian people.

She further that the decision to join Amb. Boakai is also meant to safeguard the political image of her team, create a direction for their partisans and supporters, prospects of forming a winning ticket, and the long-term best interest of the nation.

“In consideration of the selfless agenda that we brought to the table when we embarked on the journey with this astute statesman and following two weeks of consultations with a broad spectrum of the membership of our party, stakeholders and sympathizers at home and abroad, I am pleased to announce that we wholeheartedly endorse the Boakai-Koung Ticket,” Sen. Lawrance said.

She used the occasion to call on all Liberians including partisans and supporters across the length and breadth of Liberia and in the diaspora to join and support the Boakai-Koung ticket.

“By this decision, we know that we are standing against some of the powerful people of this country. But please bear with us, it’s time to set a new agenda for our country. And we want to actively contribute to setting that new agenda. Let God be God and man be man,” she said.

According to political pundits, the latest decision by Sen. Lawrance has created a vacuum in the political camp of Alexzander Cummings and Cllr. Gongle that were seeking political marriage with the Grand Bassa Senator. It is also unclear weather Mr. Cummings and Cllr. Gongle who so desire the Presidency will love to be featured as running mate as a team.
