VP Taylor Wins NPP Controversial Convention

Liberia’s Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor has again been elected on the white ballot as Standard Bearer of the National Patriotic Party (NPP).
She was elected on Friday following a controversial convention held in Paynesville that was marred by several valences.
At the convention, Stanley Kparkillen replaced James Biney, current senator of Mary Land County as Chairman.
Chairman Biney and Standard Bearer Jewel Howard Taylor have both been at each other throats over who has the authority over the NPP- a situation political critics believe is the driving force behind his loss in the just-ended convention.
Like political critics, the National Secretary General of NPP, Andrew Peters termed the election of Madam Howard Taylor and other officials as illegal.
According to him, Madam Taylor has no legal authority to take the NPP to a convention, instead, the authority is inherent in the party’s National Chairman James Biney.
