President Boakai Urges Graduates to Embrace Their Moral Responsibility in Shaping Liberia’s Future

Harbel City, Margibi County – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai called on the university’s graduates to embrace their moral responsibility in shaping the future of Liberia.
Addressing a jubilant crowd, including government officials, faculty members, and family members of the graduates, Boakai emphasized the pivotal role the young generation must play in leading the country toward prosperity. He highlighted the profound expectation that, having received the gift of education, the graduates now carry a heavy responsibility to uplift Liberia.
“In the Good Book, it is written, ‘From whom much is given, much is expected,’” President Joseph Nyuma Boakai remarked. “Much has been given to you through your education. Now, much is expected of you.” This poignant statement underscored the core message of his address: the graduates must now use their knowledge, skills, and talents to serve their nation and improve the lives of its citizens.
The president reminded the graduates that their academic achievements were not merely personal milestones but part of a broader vision for the nation’s future. He urged them to remain committed to excellence and work tirelessly to reach their full potential. “Strive to reach your full potential,” Boakai said. “Set ambitious goals, work tirelessly toward them, and never settle for mediocrity.” He emphasized that Liberia’s future success depends on their leadership, innovation, and relentless pursuit of progress.
Boakai also stressed the importance of perseverance in the face of adversity. Drawing inspiration from the words of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., he encouraged the graduates to view challenges as opportunities for growth. “The challenges you face in life should not define you. What defines you is how you respond to those challenges,” he stated, urging the graduates to remain resilient in the face of obstacles.
The president’s call to moral responsibility resonated throughout the ceremony, as he reminded the graduates that the future of Liberia is in their hands. The speech concluded with a charge for the graduates to go forth and lead with integrity and dedication, transforming Liberia into a country of growth, justice, and prosperity. “It is time to go forth and uplift Liberia,” Boakai declared, leaving the graduates with a profound sense of purpose and determination.
This year’s graduation marks a significant milestone for Margibi University, with this being the first graduating class since the institution’s elevation to university status. President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s speech served as a powerful reminder that, while the graduates have achieved much, their journey of service to Liberia has only just begun.
