Breaking News: LFA President Mustapha Raji Summoned by Anti-Corruption Commission Over Missing Funds

Paynesville Liberia: Liberia Football Association (LFA) President, Mustapha I. Raji, has been officially summoned by the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) over allegations of embezzling funds reportedly allocated by former President George Weah’s administration for the construction of the LFA headquarters.
According to the LACC, the Government of Liberia disbursed US$658,550 and US$1,160,016 to the LFA for the 2022 and 2023 fiscal years. These funds were meant to cover the construction of the football body’s headquarters, along with operational and program-related expenses. However, the commission claims the funds were allegedly spent by Raji and cannot be accounted for.
The investigation follows a petition from the University of Liberia-based Student Unification Party (SUP).
Meanwhile, a KOOL 91.9 FM fact-check revealed that the LFA headquarters was fully funded by FIFA, and that the Weah government’s highest financial support to the LFA amounted to just US$150,000.
In response, Raji told a local radio station on Wednesday that he welcomes the investigation and confirmed he will appear before the LACC on Thursday, May 29, 2025.
