The Lower House Committee on Elections Concludes a Strategic Inter-agency Peer Review Discussion with Several Government Functionaries

MONROVIA, LIBERIA: The House of Representatives’ Committee on Elections, chaired by Sinoe County Electoral District #1 Representative Thomas Romeo Quioh, has successfully concluded a high-level inter-agency peer review engagement with the National Elections Commission (NEC), the Liberia Institute of Statistics and Geo-Information Services (LISGIS), and the National Identification Registry (NIR).
This strategic engagement marks a significant milestone in Liberia’s ongoing efforts to enhance institutional coordination ahead of the country’s electoral boundary delimitation process.
This initiative is part of a broader series of rigorous legislative and inter-agency dialogues designed to strengthen our electoral infrastructure and democratic processes, said Quioh during the closing session.
Over the past several weeks, the House Committee has been deeply involved in peer review consultations aimed at critically examining methodologies that enhance collaboration among these vital national institutions.
Key focus areas included institutional coordination, governance frameworks, data integrity, and progress toward the implementation of a shared Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
While technology plays a role, our focus extends beyond systems and tools to the representative. Quioh emphasized. It’s about building a framework grounded in transparency, accountability, and public trust.
The dialogue also served as a platform for reviewing the technical and operational readiness of the involved agencies, especially as they align data and resources for the upcoming boundary delimitation exercise, an important step for equitable representation.
Representative Quioh reaffirmed the Legislature’s commitment to sustained oversight and support for reforms that improve electoral integrity and national identity systems.
“We will continue to exercise our oversight responsibility to ensure that the implementation of this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) delivers real and measurable outcomes, and remains accountable to the Liberian people,” the lawmaker intoned.
He concluded by calling on all stakeholders to remain dedicated to the shared goal of fostering a more inclusive, transparent, and accountable democratic process in Liberia.
