LBS Boss Linked to Manufacturing Fabricated Evidence against Chinese National

Monrovia, Liberia: Director General of the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS), Eugene Lamin Fahngon, is as usual at the center of a growing controversy following allegations that he coerced Momoh David into fabricating claims of torture against Chinese national Michael Shio.
Reports suggest that the alleged scheme was financially backed by Gao Feng, also known as “The Real Minister,” who purportedly paid Fahngon $300,000 to execute the act, a claim the LBS boss vehemently denied.
It can be recalled that on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, a viral video surfaced on Fahngon’s Facebook page, appearing to show him coaching Momoh David on how to respond to specific questions regarding allegations of his supposed confinement and mistreatment by the Chinese national, Shio.
In the video footage that caught the attention of many Liberians, including members of the Legislature, Fahngon was seen providing details of the alleged torture, while David reluctantly responded with “yes” or “no,” raising an eyebrow that the entire story may have been orchestrated to frame Shio.
In the recording, Fahngon is heard stating, "This actually happened on January 13,” before asking David, "So you’ve been in the hospital since January 13?” He then repeats, “Since the 13th of January.” This line of questioning implies that David was admitted to the hospital on January 13, 2025.
However, a few minutes later in the exact video, Fahngon contradicts himself, saying, "My understanding is that you spent three (3) days in that compound; is that true?”
Instead of David responding, his mother interjects with a “yes,” further adding to the inconsistencies in the narrative.
If the alleged torture incident occurred on January 13, 2025, and David was held in confinement for three days by the accused, he should have then left Shio’s compound on January 16, 2023, not been hospitalized since January 13, 2025, as was initially claimed by Fahngon.
But providing his version of the story to Knews, the Director General of the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS), Eugene Fahngon, vehemently refuted claims that he orchestrated a situation involving a Chinese national who allegedly tortured Momo David.
The claims were made following an accusation that Fahngon coached Momo David to fabricate the story of torture.
Speaking to our reporter from his LBS office on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, Fahngon clarified that the incident in question took place on January 13, 2025, when he contacted the reporter responsible for the initial story.
His communication, he stated, led to police involvement and the subsequent commencement of an investigation.
Fahngon explained that through a thorough interview process, he was able to gather the perspective of the accused Chinese national, Michael Shio, which ultimately resulted in the case being taken to court.
