LFA Lifts Determine Girls FC's President 1-year Ban From Football Activities

Monrovia, Liberia: Following weeks of controversies and legal review, the Liberia Football Association (LFA), through its Appeal Committee, has overturned the initial decision by its Grievances and Disciplinary Committee that suspended Determine Girls Football Club President Grace Weah for one year from all football-related activities in the country.
K-News Sports gathered that the initial decision imposed on Determine Girls Football Club President by the Liberia Football Association on May 8, 2025, followed a review into her social media post made in December 2024 in which she publicly accused the 2024 Award Committee of robbing Determine Girls players of awards she claimed they deserved.
According to the LFA, Madam Weah failed to substantiate her accusations before the Ethics and Disciplinary Committee made against the 2024 Award Committee, something the football governing body said breached Chapter 4, Article 4, Count 8c of its standing rules and regulations on the conduct of club officials.
The suspension later stirred mixed reactions among football stakeholders, prompting an appeal move from the Upper Women League Club President at the level of the LFA Appeal Committee for reconsideration of the 1-year ban, citing an immediate apology for her statement and leniency in cooperating with the legal review of the process.
The Appeals Committee of the LFA, following a thorough review, found that while the initial decision by the Grievance and Disciplinary Committee was procedurally sound, the 1-year suspension penalty was deemed disproportionate, recounting Madam Weah's efforts to retract the controversial statement.
Meanwhile, the LFA Appeal Committee on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, issued a revised decision imposing a monetary fine on Determine Girls FC's president, Grace Weah, and demanded a written apology to the leadership of the Liberia Football Association and a publicized one by the team president.
The mandates revealed, "Ms. Weah is ordered to pay a fine of One Hundred Fifty Thousand Liberian Dollars (LD$150,000) within 30 days from the date of the ruling."
"Former apology: submitting a formal letter to the president and leadership of the Liberia Football Association and a public apology in three local newspapers before June 15, 2025."
The decision signals a renewed zest for the current champions of the LFA Upper Women League Club, Determined Girls, which is in a state of preparation for the CAF Women's Championship League preliminaries, holding to the fact that the club president has been a major driver of the team's recent dominance in the LFA Upper Women League.
However, Madam Grace Weah has welcomed the new ruling of the LFA and expressed her commitment to complying with the mandates.
