What Happens When One of Liberia’s Promising Voices SIO Chooses Family Over Flashy Labels and Asks His Fans To Walk The Journey With Him?

Monrovia, Liberia: As Liberian singer Alfred Dorbor (SIO) prepares to drop his next single, “Time”, he’s taken an unusually transparent and deeply personal step.
A facebook Live appeal with his own parents on the night of wednesday June 26, 2025 rallying public financial backing to power Time's promotion.
The news of his Single "Time" came after controversies surrounding a recent two 2 mins clip which was posted by Liberian Blogger "A MILL" who goes with this popular slang " I Scary and Beautiful, You Will Love It".
During their interaction at a local club in Monrovia, the blogger jokingly pleaded with SIO to promote his brand by saying his slang "Scary and Beautiful" but SIO continously resisted the blogger's request and insisted that A MILL take his camera off him, it was a dramatic moment.
The clip took over the internet, his audiance were left in total disbelieve of his cruelty towards the blogger, his fellow entertainer.
Music supporters were saying their anger rely on the fact that "bloggers were instrumental in the process of propelling him SIO's image and pushed him globally", therefore, they demanded an apology eventhough it took literally forever to apologized but eventually he did and there was a renion.
The south eastern star first burst onto the scene with a stirring feature on Fake Love back in January 2025, showcasing raw vocal competence and cementing him as “one to watch” in Liberia’s music circles.
He then inked a headline making L$25 million deal with LibMuzik in April only for things to fall apart just 72 hours later amid confusion over finances and his mother’s objections.
Despite the messy split deemed one of the shortest record deals in Liberian music history, SIO bounced back quickly, channeling that energy into his well received solo debut, “Blessing”, which notched over 1 million streams in under 10 days.
Now, just ahead of “Time”, SIO’s going bold cutting through the usual industry hustle with heartfelt authenticity.
In a Facebook Live session broadcast from his parents’ home in Monrovia, he, his father and his mother invited fans to help cover radio placements, video production, and digital pushes. It wasn’t just marketing, it was family, humility, and hustle in one raw package.
By putting his family and vision on full display, the singer is reframing the conversation, this isn’t just another promo push it’s the next act in his growing legacy.
SIO’s previous tracks have struck a chord. “Blessing” resonated hard not just in Liberia’s hotspots but also across West African airwaves, evidence that his sound transcends borders.
His song, coupled with his performance on Ghanaian radio, reflected an artist who understands how to engage culturally, not just perform.
As an independent artist now, every release is a test and every fan gesture a vote of confidence. This time, he’s making it clear: the house and the beats are funded by the people who believe his family, his friends, and you.
If the “Time” campaign maintains its current momentum with online momentum, parental passion, and fans pledging their support, this could be the spark that lights up SIO’s takeoff as a fully independent force.
Expect the official release on July 3, followed by a guerrilla launch party in Sinkor and a street interview blitz with his parents in tow, a narrative that puts family front and center.
