Air India Plane Crashes After Takeoff from Ahmedabad – No Deaths Confirmed Yet

Indian state of Gujarat.An Air India plane carrying 242 people crashed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad, India, on Thursday. The flight was on its way to London’s Gatwick Airport when it suddenly disappeared from radar just minutes after departure at 1:39 p.m. local time.
The aircraft, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, crashed in a nearby residential area. Eyewitnesses saw a large fireball and thick black smoke rising from the scene. The crash has caused serious damage, but so far, authorities have not confirmed if anyone has died.
The plane was carrying people from several countries:
- 169 Indian nationals
- 53 British nationals
- 7 Portuguese citizens
- 1 Canadian citizen
Before the crash, the pilots sent out a “Mayday” emergency call. Sadly, there was no further contact after that. The flight tracking site Flightradar24 lost signal from the plane just moments later.
Emergency crews rushed to the site quickly. Ambulances were seen transporting injured people, and photos from the scene show parts of the plane on fire.
This tragic event is shocking, especially since the Boeing 787 Dreamliner is considered one of the most advanced and safest passenger planes.
