MONROVIA, LIBERIA: Portugal and Liverpool star Diogo Jota has reportedly died following a terrible vehicle accident on early Thursday, July 3, 2025.
The Portuguese striker has been reported dead along with his brother Andre Silva in a car crash incident while traveling to the province of Zamora when the car veers off-road, according to reports.
Multiple international media outlets have reported that the car, Lamborghini’s tyres, is believed to have blown out while overtaking on the A-52 around 70 miles west of the historic city of Valladolid in Spain, leading to a crash and bursting into flames.
The tragic news comes just two weeks after Diogo Jota married his long-time girlfriend Rute Cardoso, the mother of his three children, in Porto.
The 28-year-old Portuguese star joined Liverpool in 2020 from Wolverhampton Wanderers, making 123 appearances and scoring 47 goals, while winning four trophies.
He made his senior international debut for Portugal in November 2019 and was chosen in the squads for the 2022 World Cup and two European Championships (2020 and 2024). He also won the UEFA Nations League in 2019 and 2025.
