FC Fassell Clenches First LFA Champion League Trophy

Paynesville City, Liberia: At long last, FC Fassell has won the Liberia Football Association First Division Championship League, writing a new landmark achievement for the first time in the 2024-2025 league seasons.

Fassell FC was officially crowned champions of the just-ended 2024-2025 First Division season on Sunday, April 20, 2025, registering her name among the championship clubs in the Liberian top-flight league.

The “Soccer Missionaries,” as the club is affectionately called, lost 1-0 to LPRC Oilers in their final league match at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Stadium, a defeat that did not create any obstacle to winning the 2024-2025 season championship trophy.

FC Fassell's debut championship win comes with 56 points, 11 points more than league runner-up Heaven Eleven. Fassell managed an impressive performance, clinching 17 wins, 5 draws, and 4 losses out of 26 league games.

Speaking on his first major trophy win, FC Fassell Belgian International Head Coach Ivan Maennart attributed his success to the determination he had for the championship through strategizing one game at a time.

The foreign coach told sports reporters that he was never complacent about his prolonged lead during the season until his side finally clinched the trophy.

"It was step by step, like I said from the beginning. We were not resting, working game by game until we can win champions," Coach Ivan Maennart said.

However, sports pundits believe the dominance of FC Fassell in the just-ended season and its milestone achievement in the First Division can be linked to the massive rebranding of the club during the start of the 2024-2025 league campaign.

FC Fassell, formerly FC Kallon, suffered poor performance in the 2023-2024 season, ending in 10th place.

Through a major revamping process in the 2024-2025 seasons, the club became a title contender when it secured the services of former national team players, foreign players, and a foreign international coach that boosted the squad.

The sports pundit viewed the level of financial investment in FC Fassell as a driving force that has now prepared the club as a top contender in major football tournaments in the country.
