Liberia’s Voice at the Table: President Boakai Off to High-Level Talks with Trump

Margibi County, Liberia: President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has left Liberia for Washington, D.C. on a special invitation from U.S. President Donald J. Trump to take part in a high-level meeting with four other African leaders.
The visit, which will take place from July 9 to 11, will focus on building stronger ties between the United States and Africa, especially in the areas of economic growth and security.
President Boakai is traveling with a small and focused team, showing his commitment to saving costs and good leadership. He flew on a commercial flight with ASKY Airlines.
The other African Presidents joining the meeting are:
1. Bassirou Diomaye Faye of Senegal
2. Umaro Mokhtar Sissoco Embaló of Guinea-Bissau
3. Mohamed Ould Ghazouani of Mauritania
4. Brice Oligui Nguema of Gabon
This meeting shows Liberia’s growing role in international matters and the strong relationship between Liberia and the United States.

• Samuel K. Woods II, National Security Advisor

• Bedell Sandi, Special Envoy
Staff from the protocol, communication, and security teams are also part of the trip.
While the President is away, Justice Minister Cllr. Oswald N. Tweh will lead cabinet meetings, in consultation with the Vice President and the President through phone calls.
President Boakai is expected to return to Liberia on July 11, 2025, after the summit ends.
