Top Officials Hit with Travel Ban as LACC Closes in on Major Corruption Scandal

Monrovia, Liberia: The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) has officially requested the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) to place immediate travel bans on several high-level officials linked to serious financial corruption across government institutions.

In a formal letter sent to LIS Commissioner General Elijah F. Rufus, the LACC stressed the urgency of the move aimed at stopping suspects from fleeing Liberia as investigations wrap up and indictments loom.

A confidential memo obtained by several media outlets reveals that the LACC’s investigation targets four key institutions:

Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA)

Liberia Refugee, Repatriation and Resettlement Commission (LRRRC)

National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL)

Gbarpolu County (involving the “Yellow Machine” corruption scandal)

???? Who’s Involved?

At the LTA:

Edwina G. Zackpah (Former Chair)

Maria Harrison (Former Chair)

Abdullah Kamara (Former Acting Chair and ex-CEO of TAMMA Corporation)

At the LRRRC:

Patrick T. Worzie (Executive Director)

Jeroline Koleh (Humanitarian Director)

At NOCAL:

Rustonlyn Suacoco Dennis (Suspended CEO)

Richmond Jallah (Comptroller)

In Gbarpolu County:

Sam K. Zinnah (County Superintendent)

Several senior county officials linked to the “Yellow Machine” scandal

The LACC’s action reflects a stronger stance against corruption and sends a message that fleeing justice will no longer be an option. This comes as Liberia faces growing public pressure for accountability in government.

With formal charges expected soon, this sweeping move could mark a major turning point in the country’s long struggle against high-level corruption.
