Funded by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) through the UN Peace-building Fund, the program aims to enhance CAAT members’ capacity to monitor public officials and institutions, fostering greater transparency and accountability in governance and service delivery.

NAYMOTE is a Liberian civil society organization dedicated to empowering citizens to hold government officials accountable and improve public service delivery. The training equips local actors with skills to track government commitments and assess the progress of development plans at the county level.

Participants receive practical tools and methods for evaluating government programs and engaging communities in governance oversight. The regional focus targets key counties to ensure broad coverage and effective monitoring across multiple areas.

UNDP Project Manager Trokon Bryant highlighted the importance of supporting CAAT in empowering citizens to monitor and evaluate local development efforts, a critical factor for sustainable peace and development.

Following the completion of the training, CAAT members will return to their respective counties to monitor the implementation of County Reconciliation Plans, government promises, and County Development Plans. Their role will be to ensure government commitments translate into tangible actions.

CAAT members' function is to serve as community watchdogs, identifying governance gaps and advocating for improvements. Their work will contribute to building trust between citizens and public institutions.

The program seems to align with Liberia’s national objectives to enhance governance and increase citizen participation in development processes. It supports ongoing peacebuilding by promoting accountability and openness.

UNDP and the UN Peace-building Fund provide essential financial support and technical expertise, strengthening Liberia’s governance structures and citizen-led monitoring initiatives.

The second phase of training is scheduled for July 1st and 2nd in Grand Gedeh County, extending capacity-building efforts to additional regions.

NAYMOTE’s Social Accountability Monitoring Training marks a significant advance in empowering citizens to hold officials accountable, promote transparency, and strengthen democratic governance throughout Liberia. The program’s success relies on the sustained engagement of trained CAAT members in their respective counties.
