Former Speaker Koffa Requests Two-Month Leave Following Resignation

Capitol Hill, Monrovia: Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa, has formally requested a two-month leave from legislative duties following his resignation from the top leadership post.
In a communication addressed to the plenary and presented during the 2nd day sitting of the 2nd quarter of the 55th Legislature, Rep. Koffa, who represents Grand Kru County Electoral District #2, informed his colleagues that he will be away on medical leave and a constituency visit.
The former Speaker cited the need for rest and engagement with his constituents as reasons for his absence, and requested to be excused from all legislative sessions during the period.
Koffa’s letter comes just a day after he participated in the 1st day sitting of the current legislative quarter, during which Rep. Richard Nagbe Koon was elected as the new Speaker of the House.
Koffa, a seasoned lawmaker and legal practitioner, stepped down voluntarily from the Speakership earlier this month, paving the way for new leadership within the House.
