LISGIS Director-General Praises Outgoing African Center for Statistics Director for Transformative Leadership

The Director-General of the Liberia Institute of Statistics and Geo-Information Services (LISGIS), Mr. Richard Fatorma Ngafuan, has praised the outgoing African Center for Statistics Director for his transformative leadership at the institution.

Speaking at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in Ethiopia recently, Mr. Ngafuan described Oliver Chinganya's tenure as a beacon of hope for strengthening Africa's statistical landscape, noting that Chinganya's unwavering support underscores his commitment to enhancing the organization's growth and development.

Mr. Ngafuan urged the outgoing director to leave a lasting legacy that would transform and reshape the institution moving forward. He emphasized the importance of continued progress in statistical governance and data management in Africa as a way forward for the continent.

The LISGIS Director-General said Mr. Katula's contributions to the African Center for Statistics were profound, and his unwavering support for national statistics offices across the continent has empowered countless countries to harness the power of data for development.

Mr. Ngafuan told the gathering that Mr. Katula understood that reliable statistics are the bedrock of sound policy, social progress, and economic development.
