“Where Did the Money Go? Rep. Banks Exposes Rotten Legacy of Failed Projects in Grand Bassa”

Monrovia, Liberia: A revealing report presented to Representative Clarence T. Banks on Wednesday has shed light on five incomplete development projects in Grand Bassa County since 2018.
During a county caucus held in Monrovia, Moses G. Henry, the former chairman of the Project Management Committee (PMC), disclosed details surrounding the delayed initiatives. The report has sparked disappointment and concern among stakeholders, including Rep. Banks, who expressed frustration over the years-long stagnation of essential infrastructure and public service projects.
Stalled Projects at a Glance: Blagbhn Bridge: $117,970.20 USD BBA Bridge in St. John: $130,001.44 USD
Diahn Bridge: $322,559.83 USD Boglay Clinic Construction: $129,889.88 USD
Market Development in Yeablo (District #2 Compound): $49,348.13 USD
Despite funds allocated and initial groundwork completed in some areas, these projects remain uncompleted leaving communities without access to vital services and improvements long promised under the previous administration.
Henry openly admitted during his presentation that the projects, deemed critical to the county’s development, have remained stalled for over six years. His report did not offer full clarity on why the projects had halted, but it marked a significant acknowledgment of the challenges inherited by the current leadership.
Rep. Banks, newly elected and leading the Grand Bassa County Legislative Caucus, did not mince words in his response. He described the situation as “deeply disappointing” and called for immediate transparency and actionable steps toward resolution.
The people of Grand Bassa deserve better. These projects are not just figures; they represent bridges to opportunity, access to healthcare, and markets for economic activity,” Rep. Banks said.
The timing of the report aligns with renewed efforts by the current administration to audit past projects and restore trust in local governance. Rep. Banks emphasized the importance of collaboration and accountability in moving forward.
Community members attending the caucus echoed his sentiments, stressing the need for swift action to complete the projects and revive development in the region.
As stakeholders digest the report's findings, there is cautious optimism that the spotlight on these unfinished projects will catalyze progress and usher in a new era of responsible leadership and meaningful impact in Grand Bassa County. a
