Boakai Tells U.S.: Liberia Is Ready for Mineral Investment and Peace Partnerships

Washington, D.C.: President of Liberia Joseph Nyuma Boakai has appealed to the United States for deeper collaboration in exploring Liberia’s rich natural resources and boosting U.S.-Liberia economic ties.

“Liberia is a long-standing friend of the United States, and we deeply respect your vision for making America strong through global partnerships. We share your commitment to economic diplomacy, environmental sustainability, and commercial friendship,” the President stated during a high-level meeting with American officials.

Highlighting the nation’s vast mineral wealth, the Liberian leader stressed the need for a comprehensive geological survey to map and responsibly harness the country’s untapped natural resources.

“One of our key asks, as enduring allies, is support for conducting a full survey of our mineral resources gold, iron ore, lithium, and other strategic minerals. These resources, if developed with international best practices and inclusivity, can uplift our economy and benefit both our nations.”

Beyond minerals, President Boakai underscored Liberia’s ongoing peaceful democratic transitions, its stable governance environment, and its commitment to gender equity in leadership and industry.

“Our country is cooling down after years of political tension, and we are proud of the peaceful democratic elections we’ve consistently held. We are committed not only to peace and security in our region, but also to empowering women across all sectors from mining to governance.”

He called for increased American private investment in Liberia and welcomed collaboration in maintaining stability across West Africa.

“We want to work closely with the United States on peace, security, and investment across the region. Liberia is ready. We are open. And we are thankful for this opportunity to deepen our partnership.”

The meeting closed on a warm note, with the Liberian President being praised for his eloquence and diplomacy, signaling a positive tone for future U.S.-Liberia engagement.
