LFA Reinstate 3rd Division Wein Town FC as Club is Poised to Contest for the Final Promotion Slot

MONROVIA, LIBERIA: Liberian Third Division football League team, Wein Town Football Club, has been reinstated into the Liberia Football Association (LFA) 2025 National Third Division playoffs after winning an appeal against their disqualification from the competition.
It can be recalled that on June 29, 2025, the LFA, through its Protests Committee, disqualified Wein Town Football Club from the competition following a reported violation of its players' eligibility rules in their 3-0 semi-finals victory match against Susa Football Club.
The LFA's disqualification decision stemmed from a protest filed by Susa FC, which accused Wein Town FC of fielding four ineligible players in the semi-final match.
Susa FC, in their complaint, named players — Daniel Howard, James Gabh, Melvin Riesler, and Swone Weege of Wein Town FC, alleging their lack of identities in the LFA connect system. The LFA Connect system is a setup that identifies players' details about their specific clubs.
Following a thorough investigation, the football governing body revised the result, leaving Susa FC to advance to the grand finale, while stripping the Wein Town boys of their secured Grand Final slot and disqualifying them from the competition.
However, in a twist of events, the LFA’s Appeal Committee somersaulted on its initial disqualification decision against Wein Town FC rendered by the Protest Committee on Monday, July 7, 2025.
This move has led to the reinstatement of Wein Town FC on the grounds of documents and pieces of evidence, which substantiate that the four players for whom the protest was made all met eligibility criteria.
The committee in its ruling also lifted the one-year suspension previously imposed on players Daniel Howard, James Gabh, Melvin Riesler, and Swone Weege of the Margibi County-based club, allowing them to return to football activities.
As the matter is being resolved, Wein Town FC now has the green light to compete against Montserrado counterparts Golden Dream FC on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the Doris Williams Sports Pitch in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.
The Sunday, July 13, 2025, soccer hostility is the final promotion slot for the upcoming 2025/2026 Second Division season.
Minutes after the reinstatement pronouncement, K-News Sports Desk gathered that Wein Town FC acknowledged the results of the playoffs Grand Final between runners-up Susa FC and champions Paris FC, even though the outcome of the ruling pointed to a reinstatement to their initial slot in the final that was recently played.
The team has agreed to fill the vacancy in the 3rd place match that was left by Susa FC's advancement to the final.
As it stands, the winners between the Margibi County side, Wein Town FC, and the Montserrado County side, Golden Dream FC, will join Paris FC and Susa FC to complete the three clubs gaining promotion to the Second Division next season, 2025/2026.
