Breaking News: 55 New Buses Rolling In, Rural Trucks Set to Empower Market Women

Monrovia, Liberia: The National Transit Authority (NTA) has confirmed the arrival of 55 brand-new buses in July 2025 as part of a nationwide initiative to enhance accessibility and mobility.
Of the incoming fleet, 20 modern 18-seater buses will be assigned to feeder roads in densely populated areas, including Barnesville, Johnsonville, New Georgia, 72nd Boulevard, and surrounding communities. The remaining 35 buses will be dispatched to improve connectivity across other major routes throughout the country.
Speaking on the State Radio’s Nightline Liberia, Noah Gibson, Deputy Director for Operations at the NTA, revealed that the government has made an initial payment of $500,000 USD toward the procurement of the vehicles.
In a parallel effort to empower rural economies, Gibson also announced that President Joseph Boakai has secured five brand-new trucks to support market women in rural areas, addressing long-standing challenges in transporting agricultural produce to urban markets.
“This is a critical step toward easing the burden on rural women and improving market access,” Gibson said, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to inclusive development.
