SIO Showcase Liberian Music Industry During A Ghanaian Radio Interview as "King Dennis" of Bilikon Record Set To Perform At A to Z Nightclub

Monrovia, Liberia: Liberian singer Alfred Dorbor, renowned as SIO, has reached great heights of success in his career but has still never ceased to amaze him.

The middle-class Southeast kid from Grand Gedeh County wanted to be something else but lately had a twist to discovering the music of "reality" and transfixed the industry on January 31, 2025, after his chorus on IPM Gucci's "Fake Love" lifted his career.

"Fake Love" spanned several musical streaming services, leading to a deal with LIBMUZIK Record on April 2, 2025, which he recently left, going down in Liberian music history as one of the shortest times spent with a label.

Despite controversies involving Cubans, Chief Priest, and others, he still manages to release "Blessing," his first mainstream solo.

Weeks after parting ways with LIBMUZIK Record, Lyee Bility, the founder and CEO of Bilikon Entertainment, sought SIO's musical grief.

In April 2025, Bility offered SIO and his artist "King Dennis" a trip to Ghana in a move to make a shift in one's career and have the opportunity to interact with a different audience amid news of an exit from LIBMUZIK Record.

Both young talents, King Dennis and SIO, share a similar rise to fame; their careers were nearly forgotten until a short viral clip brought them back into the spotlight.

Grateful for the second chance, SIO has vowed to make a lasting impact in the industry and is actively working to grow and achieve even greater heights.

However, King Dennis's journey seems to be taking a different turn.

Rather than focusing on growth and development as a young artist, he's become more consumed with fame and pleasure, showing little interest in refining his craft.

In a smart move, in a recent radio interview in Ghana, Surface, SIO, can be seen educating Ghanaians on the local Liberian language "(Koloqua)," actively networking and building connections, bent on elevating his career.

Meanwhile, King Dennis seems to have a different approach.

His main focus remains performing a wide range of songs at local Ghanaian clubs with his breakthrough "Hipco Alphabet A to Z" of his style, despite many Ghanaians struggling to connect with or understand the lyrics.

Simply performing at local clubs outside your home base isn’t enough to win over a foreign audience or help them understand your sound or language.

This is a common misstep for many Liberian artists, who assume that mere presence abroad automatically equates to international breakthrough.

But sadly, history tells a different story.

Mainstream Liberian acts like Takun J, Kizzy W, CIC, Deng, and MC Caro, all of whom once dominated the local scene with socially conscious hits and powerful records, have made efforts to cross borders, performing in Ghana and other countries. Yet, despite their talent and influence at home, they struggled to build lasting foreign appeal.

The reasons were clear: they focused primarily on performances without fully embracing the strategic groundwork needed to connect with new audiences culturally, linguistically, and musically.

The evidence of Jzyno's recent short-lived international exposure speaks volumes.

In contrast, the success of Nigerian music globally, particularly in the UK, offers valuable lessons.

Nigerian artists like Wizkid, Davido, and the legendary duo P-Square understood that breaking into foreign markets requires more than just talent; it requires calculated engagement.

They didn't just perform; they collaborated with local artists, appeared on major radio shows, and connected with influential media platforms. One notable example is the impact of DJ Edu of BBC 1Xtra, who in 2015 began spotlighting African music through curated platforms and interviews, helping to shift global attention toward the continent’s sound.

The Wizkid, Angeline, Kidjo, Don Jazzy, and other African entertainment giants' kind of media engagement was a game changer.

Even with all that effort, it wasn’t an easy road for these Nigerian stars.

Their rise took years of consistency, branding, and cross-cultural adaptation.

So for a rising Liberian artist like King Dennis, who, despite his potential, has yet to embrace such strategic growth, his path to international success will require much more than club performances and local acclaim.

Every success story is unique, yes, but the blueprint for going global has already been written.

Beyond a few musical achievements, little is known about King Dennis’s life outside the close-knit Liberian music industry, where he has spent most of his time.

His rise, though modest, began gaining attention way long before he formed a friendship with fellow rising star SIO, a bond largely influenced by "BILIKON ENT" boss Lyee Bility.

Dennis's and his label boss Bility's connection grew stronger as he began to show signs of growth many hadn’t expected.

It was proven in a 2023 repost of King Dennis's Hipco Alphabet A-to-Z Bility, captioning the post: "My Pekin King Dennis at it with this freestyle; the kid I found free-styling in the street last year, yes, he's a mega star now."

In early 2023, a two-minute video clip surfaced on Facebook and other platforms, stirring interest in King Dennis.

The clip showcased his unrealized potential, pointing out what many in the industry had overlooked.

At the time, Dennis himself had little hope of breaking into the mainstream or achieving any level of commercial success.

Just a year earlier, in 2022, he didn’t see a future in the spotlight.

But the encouragement and belief from figures like Bility played a pivotal role in reshaping his mindset, pushing him to believe in a future that once felt out of reach.

Bility, who is undeniably noted across Liberia for spotting raw talent, has also held the young Grand Kru County superstar "SIO" in high regard.

According to blogs, Bility has kept a watchful eye on his progress, considering him for a potential record deal due to the noticeable changes and dedication.
