LDEA Bomi detachment arrests commercial driver with huge  drugs value over 399,000 Liberia dollars.

Bomi County :On June 12, 2024, Bomi County detachment of the Liberia drugs enforcement Agency has arrested a Liberian national with 28 plates of compressed marijuana valued over 399,000 Liberian dollars. 

The 28 plates of compressed marijuana which is also valued in United States dollars at 2,100, was arrested over the weekend by officers of the Liberia drugs enforcement Agency in Bomi County.

According to the commander of the LDEA in Bomi County Special Agent Ballah Kamara said, the suspect identified as Mustapha Kamara was arrested on Sunday June 9, 2024 at Klay checkpoint in Bomi County while in route to Monrovia. 

He further disclosed that the suspect is a commercial driver who was leaving from the Bo-water side with five passengers boarding the bus while heading to Monrovia.

The Bomi County LDEA commander further explained that during the search on the vehicle by the LDEA officers, the suspect escaped the scene but was later arrested through the intervention of the bus owner.

Meanwhile, he said that suspect Mustapha Kamara, during their preliminary investigation admitted his involvement with the drugs but said the substance was given to him by an unknown individual who is yet to be identified.

For his part, suspect Mustapha Kamara said that the drugs were given to him by an unknown individual at Bo-water side to transport it to Monrovia.

He pleaded for mercy promising not to get himself involved in transporting drugs anymore.

Meanwhile, the 41 years old suspect who is a Liberian commercial driver is currently behind bars at the headquarters of the Liberia drugs enforcement Agency in Tubmanburg, Bomi County awaiting court trial.
