President Boakai Suspends LDEA Leadership Pending Investigation
Monrovia:The President of the Republic of Liberia, His Excellency Joseph N. Boakai, Sr., has announced the immediate suspension, without pay, of the Director General of the Liberian Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), Mr. Abraham S. Kromah, along with Deputy Director General for Administration, Mr. Gbawou Kowou, and Deputy Director General for Operations, Mr. Hassan Fadiga. This action comes as part of an ongoing investigation into recent events at the agency.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, President Boakai detailed the reasons for the suspensions, citing the disorder and chaos that erupted at the LDEA headquarters on June 3, 2024.
The President described these acts as "unacceptable," stressing that they threaten public peace and undermine the government's efforts in combating illicit drugs.
The release further stated that, Mr. Christopher Peters has been appointed as Officer in Charge (OIC) of the LDEA. Peters is recognized for his extensive training and high recommendations within the security sector.
President Boakai emphasized the importance of maintaining order and accountability within government agencies, particularly those involved in the crucial fight against drug-related crimes.
