President Boakai Signs ECOWAS 50th Anniversary Paper

Lagos, Nigeria: President Joseph Boakai has joined other West African leaders in Lagos to sign a paper marking 50 years since ECOWAS was founded.
The event was held at the same place where ECOWAS began in 1975 the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs.
The leaders promised to keep working together for peace, trade, and jobs. They also said they will fight problems like terrorism, climate change, and youth unemployment.
President Boakai said Liberia will keep supporting ECOWAS. He thanked the group for helping with peace, democracy, and free travel across the region.
The paper was signed in English, French, and Portuguese by countries like Liberia, Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and others.
One of ECOWAS’s founding leaders, General Yakubu Gowon, was present at the event.
The signing marks 50 years of working together and a new plan called “Vision 2050” to build a better future for West Africa.
