FBI Investigates Shooting at Trump's Rally; Reveals an Assassination Attempt

USA: The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States of America says it is investigating the reported shooting at former President Donald Trump's campaign rally in Pennsylvania as an assassination attempt, naming 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, Pa., as the suspected gunman.

Footage showed that Ex-President Trump sustained wounds in his ears after sounds of gunfire at his rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, which led him to be rushed off stage.

The Domestic Intelligence and Security Service of the United States revealed that Trump who survived the attack, said he was “shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear.” One attendee was killed and two others were critically injured, and the suspected shooter is dead.

In a statement, the FBI said: "The FBI has identified Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, as the subject involved in the assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump on July 13, in Butler, Pennsylvania. This remains an active and ongoing investigation, and anyone with information that may assist with the investigation is encouraged.

"We do not currently have an identified motive," as the suspected shooter is reported dead, said Kevin Rojek, FBI Pittsburgh special agent in charge, at a briefing late Saturday night.

Meanwhile, United States President, Joe Biden has taken to his social media handle to condemn the incident, stating that there is no place for such violence in America.

He however expressed kindness in the news that the Ex-President and Republican main presidential candidate is recovering at a medical facility.

"I’m grateful to hear that he’s safe and doing well. I’m praying for him and his family and for all those who were at the rally, as we await further information.

"Jill and I are grateful to the Secret Service for getting him to safety. There’s no place for this kind of violence in America. We must unite as one nation to condemn it," President Biden wrote.

Donald Trump is reported as a formidable candidate for the Republican Party in this year's United States Presidential election, but the situation has drawn fear among supporters about the ongoing campaign process in the country.
