Political parties have until today to work out the last details of a coalition agreement that might or might not see Cyril Ramaphosa return for a second term.
South Africa has been in a political deadlock since the ANC lost its 30-year majority in an election two weeks ago, forcing it to approach other parties to co-govern for the first time. The top priority for the ANC is reelecting Ramaphosa, but it will need help from other lawmakers because it no longer has a parliamentary majority. If Ramaphosa is reelected, which party should produce his deputy?
