Fallah Departs from CDC Due to Fundamental Inconsistencies"
Monrovia, Liberia – The Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) has expelled Thomas Fallah, the representative for Lofa County District One, after nearly 19 years of service to the party. Fallah's expulsion comes in the wake of his involvement in the recent removal of former House Speaker J Fonati Koffah.
Fallah, who was one of the leader of the majority bloc in the House of Representatives, played a key role in orchestrating the efforts to remove Speaker Chambers. His actions sparked significant division within the party, culminating in a decision by the CDC leadership to sever ties with the influential lawmaker.
In the aftermath of the Speaker’s removal, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai recognized Representative Richard Koon as the new Speaker of the House. This recognition led to an emergency meeting at the CDC headquarters, where party leaders decided to expel Fallah and his ally, Deputy Speaker Thomas Fallah, from the party.
However, Fallah has contested his expulsion, claiming that he was not granted due process in the party’s decision. Speaking out after his removal, Fallah expressed his dissatisfaction with how the matter was handled, citing a lack of transparency in the proceedings.
Political Fallout and Impact on 2029 Elections
Political analysts are already predicting that the CDC could face significant losses in Lofa County during the 2029 elections due to Fallah’s expulsion. Known for his strong political tactics, Fallah was instrumental in delivering 70% of Lofa’s vote to the CDC during the 2023 elections, securing a crucial win for former President George Weah’s party.
With Fallah’s departure, many believe that the CDC will struggle to maintain its influence in Lofa, a county where Fallah was regarded as a key figure who could rally support for the party. His absence leaves the CDC with fewer strong voices capable of galvanizing voters in the region.
For now, Representative Thomas Fallah is no longer affiliated with the Coalition for Democratic Change or with former President George Weah, signaling a new chapter in the shifting political landscape of Liberia.
Deputy Speaker Thomas P. Fallah has rejected his expulsion from the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), calling it unfair and not done properly. He said his connection with his supporters across Liberia is still strong, even though he believes the move was an attempt to damage his political career.
The CDC announced Fallah's expulsion on Wednesday, saying he broke party rules. But Fallah disagrees, saying the decision was wrong and that party leaders didn’t give him a chance to defend himself.
