The engagement exercise aimed to strengthen the understanding of community members on Liberia's new drug laws, as well as the recommended actions against the use of harmful narcotic substances in the country.

The event brought together over twenty participants from various institutions across the county.

These institutions included the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), the Police, community leaders, women and youth groups, the media, the religious community, among others.

The dialogue engagement was organized by the Center for Justice and Peace Studies (CJPS) with support from Civil Peace Service.

Speaking during the event, former Kakata City Mayor Emmanuel Goll urged the national government to revisit the drug laws, emphasizing that the laws should be enforced and not compromised.

He also vowed to work together with community members to stand against the use of narcotics and support security efforts in Kakata City and Margibi County as a whole.

Meanwhile, some participants speaking to K-News Upper Margibi correspondents made several recommendations to the government of Liberia and county stakeholders regarding how to address the drug issue.

One key concern raised was the lack of mobility for security forces in Margibi County, which has severely impacted their operations. Participants called on stakeholders to provide support by empowering the county's security departments with mobility, which they believe would enhance the effectiveness of their work.
