Capitol Hill, Monrovia: Police Chief Inspector General Gregory Coleman’s refusal to officially communicate with the leadership of the House of Representatives as to why he could not honor summon in person has sparked anger in members of the House of Representatives.

Last week, the House through its clerk summoned LNP IG Gregory Coleman to appear and give detailed reason as to why there are too many accidents along various highways across the country, but surprisingly, IG Sudue did not adhere to the lawmakers’ call in person rather, he choose to send representatives of the Liberia National Police, the action according to knewsonline reporter at the House of Representatives angered members of the House.

Plenary warned Coleman (U-100) not to ever fail again to communicate his absence whenever he is summoned by them.

Plenary described the act of IG Coleman to designate Deputy Inspector General for Operations J.N. Freeman and Chief of Public Safety John Saar to proxy for him without a written or verbal communication of his excuse or absence to them is “ Disrespectful and unacceptable.”

Members of the House of Representatives during Thursday, May 30, 2024 argued that if said “attitude” is ever repeated, the Police IG will be summoned in contempt for obstructing the works of members of the Legislature.

They also expanded by saying; this warning goes to all Members of the executive when summoned, they must act respectfully.

The lawmakers who could not hold back their anger, voted to “send back” the appearances” of Deputy Inspector General for Operations J.N. Freeman and Chief of Public Safety John Saar with a serious warning to their boss in Colonel Gregory Coleman.

The motion was proffered by Grand Bassa County District #5 Representative Thomas Goshua for IG Coleman’s proxies to be rejected and his appearance to be rescheduled on Tuesday, June 4.

The LNP boss appearance was also intended to provide recommendations and strategies on how these situations can be put under control.
