"Properties of Internal Affairs Minister Francis Nyumalin, Valued at $85,000, Seized by Court Order"

Monrovia Liberia: Current internal minister and former representative of Lofa county district #1 Francis Nyumalin, and also one of the key actors partly blamed for election violence in Foya, Lofa County during the heat of the 2023 presidential and legislative elections has property been seized by one of Liberia commercial Bank

The Debt Court for Montserrado County has issued a writ of execution, commanding the seizure of assets belonging to Internal Affairs Minister, Francis Nyumalin over US Eighty-Five Thousand, One Hundred and Forty-One Dollars, Thirteen Cents owed Ecobank Liberia.

The order, delivered by Resident Judge James Jones, follows a debt action filed by ECOBANK Liberia Ltd., represented by Managing Director George Mensah Asante.

The court’s directive commanded Bailiff Emmanuel Bowen, Acting Sheriff of the Debt Court, to seize and auction Minister Nyumalin’s assets to satisfy a debt totaling US$85 plus.

Nyumalin, a former Representative of District #1, Lofa County, was embroiled in pre-election violence in the county, resulting in death of at least two people. His rivalry with fellow Representative Thomas Fallah culminated in Fallah’s victory in the October 2023 elections.

During the lead-up to the 2023 elections, Nyumalin and the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change exchanged heated rhetoric and threats, including the deployment of party militants.
