Trump and Putin Agree to 30-Day Ceasefire in Ukraine Conflict

U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin have reached an agreement for a 30-day ceasefire targeting energy and infrastructure in Ukraine and Russia. The two leaders spoke for two hours on Tuesday as the United States continues to push for a long-term peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine.
A White House statement highlighted the importance of resolving the conflict with lasting peace. “Both leaders agreed this conflict needs to end with a lasting peace,” the statement said. “They also stressed the need for improved bilateral relations between the United States and Russia. The blood and treasure that both Ukraine and Russia have been spending in this war would be better spent on the needs of their people.”
The ceasefire includes provisions for energy and infrastructure, as well as a maritime ceasefire in the Black Sea. Additionally, negotiations for a “full ceasefire and permanent peace” will begin immediately, with a focus on the Middle East.
